What is so special about essential oils? Essential oils are made up of very tiny molecules. Much smaller than the molecules found in "fatty oils" like coconut oil for instance. Because the molecules are so small they are able to:
Therapeutic grade essential oils are made up of hundreds or even thousands of different molecules. A single oil contains anywhere from 80 to 300 different chemical constituents. It is the synergy of all these constituents contained in an oil that gives them their power.
Therapeutic essential oils are extremely concentrated! It takes about 250 lbs of rose petals to make a single 15 ml bottle of oil rose oil, 75 lemons to make a 15 ml bottle of lemon oil and 27 square feet of lavender plants to make one 15 ml bottle of lavender oil.
A 15 ml bottle contains about 250-300 drops of oil. Most applications call for 2-4 drops per use, so the bottle lasts quite a long time. If we take an average of 275 drops per bottle at 3 drops per use, that is 92 single use's per bottle. This is very cost effective!
Quality matters. Especially when using oils with animals. Young Living (my essential oil company of choice) has exceptionally high standards, and rigorous testing of all their products by a third party lab. Veterinarians have used these oils successfully on all species of animals for over 20 years.
